Perceptual and Aesthetic Evidence
The event focused on the connection between aesthetic and pictorial evidence in relation to works of art, as well as in relation to broader aesthetic and philosophical questions. On the first day, the keynote lectures dealt with the objectivity of image consciousness (Walter Hopp) and various concepts of realism in the visual arts (Robert Felfe). On the second day, seven doctoral and postdoctoral projects were presented and discussed: The Experience of Truth in Art (Antonia Heigl), The Concept of Interpretation in Arthur Danto (Julia Kaidisch), The Experience and Articulation of Experiences of “Stimmgkeit” (Iris Hunziker), The Sensation of Color and its Value in Michel Henry (Nicolò Maggioni), The Use of Darkness in Dutch Painting (Theresa Brauer), The Art Movement of Relationism (Ilkin Beste CirakKlug), as well as The Difference between Aesthetic and Intellectual Insight in Plato's psychology (Claudia Luchetti).
The workshop gave the participating researchers the opportunity to receive detailed feedback on their projects from the members of the perception group and the two keynote speakers. These workshop demonstrated, across the different disciplinary backgrounds of the participants, that the topic of aesthetic evidence offers many points of convergence, particularly in relation to the experience of works of art and reflection on experience itself.
